French green lentils

1/2 lentils to 1 C water

Combine at beginning, bring to medium simmer where just a couple bubbles are seen

Reduce to lowest simmer

Uncovered 20-30

Then drain and salt at this point before serving

 

Beluga lentils

1 to 3

Boil liquid.

Add lentils.

Cook uncovered 20 mins.

Drain in a colander 

 

Farro

1/2 to 1

Bring water to boil

Add farro. Cover simmer 10 mins. Remove from heat and keep covered another 5

 

Wheat berries

1 to 3

Boil

Add

Simmer covered 45-50 mins

 

Israeli cous cous

1 to 1/4-1

Boil

Add

Simmer covered 10 mins

 

Regular cous cous

1 to 1

Boil. Add. Stir.

Remove from heat. Cover and let stand for 5 mins

 

Barley

½ to 1 1/2

Boil water. Add. Cover.

Simmer. 25-30 mins

 

Quinoa

1/2 to 1

Combine and bring to boil.

Simmer, cover 10-15 until absorbed

 

Bulger

1 to 1 1/2

Boil. Add.

Simmer covered 12 minutes

Remove from heat and let stand covered for another 10 mins

 

Steel cut oats

1 to 3 or 4 (depending if you want it thicker or thinner/creamier

Boil. Add.

Simmer uncovered 20-30, checking texture and stirring occasionally

Add ice cream or frozen berries to cool things down for serving

Make a larger batch and fridge for future breakfast reheats
